Day 1 - Arrival - Banovci.

Welcome to your Simply Cycling Slovenia Holiday The Four Countries Route. If you are to be collected from the airport, you will be driven to Banovci, which is a small spa village in the North Eastern side of Slovenia. Today is a day for relaxing and settling in. Your bikes will be waiting, cleaned, oiled and ready to go. We will have a brief meeting to discuss your routes and your capabilities so that we can adapt any routes to your needs. Our self-guiding tourists will be introduced to their Garmin GPS system and maps. Tonight's accommodation is just 20 meters from the Thermal Spa at Banovci, which is perfect for those who want to spend the afternoon relaxing in the healing waters. Depending on time, we can arrange ride from Banovci down to family owned restaurant Trnek, situated in the woods between three Carp lakes.

Day 2 - Banovci (Slovenia) - Bad Radkersburg (Austria). 64 km.

A gentle ride on tarmac through the rural landscape and small, quiet, picturesque peaceful villages of Prlekija and on into the countryside. Very slight undulating hill, very easy and open. After 36 km, we join the Mura bike trail, super condition gravel roads. In and out of the woods passing fishing lakes and old Mills. One Mill has been converted into a restaurant where we can stop for refreshments. Crossing at this point over the Mura river and into Austria quietest of country lanes, very flat and easy. You will be staying in Bad Radkersburg, a beautiful historical yet modern town, with small handicraft businesses, shops and boutiques and with cafés, inns and numerous squares bustling with life. The friendly town square is a perfect place to sit and drink coffee or sip a cool glass of beer or local wine.

Day 3 - Bad Radkersburg. (Discover Austria). 57 km.

Following the river Mura, the natural border between Austria and Slovenia, you will ride through woods, always-quiet roads and lovely, picturesque villages. There will be plenty of stops on the way for a coffee, beer or wine. You will be staying at Firbas, a family run tourism farm, which offers traditional homemade food in the most pleasant and quietest of surroundings. This day has a few more hills, some sharp, but only 50 meters in length, rest of the time tarmac roads with gentle rolling hills. Many stork nests to see! We will also stop at Pachamama center. I have a surprise install for you!

Day 4 - Firbas – Bio Terme, Slovenia. 65 km.

Rolling hills are giving way to steep vineyards. This country is so green, colours are vivid. Watch out for the storks nesting on rooftops and telegraph poles. Riding always on tarmac, longer hills to climb, around 8 percent in grade. Visiting the old wooden Mill at Stara Gora. Maybe taking in a swim in the warm lake of Blagus. Tonight you stay in the countryside at a very modern and rather classy thermal Spa. Nestled in a valley with a gorgeous setting. Thermal waters and whirlpools offer you to have a sauna or a swim. Time for a little pampering!

Day 5 - Bio Terme - Hlebec, Slovenia. 60 km.

1620 feet of ascent The ride is flat for a while, then heading upwards to Jeruzalem - one of the prettiest places on the planet! Today is hilly and more demanding ride, but is an absolute treat! “Gorgeous” is how to describe this place. We stop for refreshments at the restaurant Taverna Jeruzalem, which has the terrace with a 360-degree panoramic view. Tonight you are staying at Hlebec tourism farm, famous for its wine cellar. You will definitely love it!

Day 6 - Hlebec (Slovenia), Croatia and Hungary. 60 km.

Today, we will ride in and out of three countries. Firstly, after 20 km we will cross the border between Slovenia and Croatia. After only 3 km, we are in Hungary, where a mixture of vineyard landscapes, river trails and deep dark Hungarian forests awaits us. Going deep into the huge forests on logging trails. Dears and wild boars are in abundance here! Tonight, you will stay in the woods in a country sports club (tennis, horse riding and swimming pool, fabulous restaurant). Hardly any hills to talk about. Hungary is very different in landscape and housing to its richer neighbours. Super cheap and very friendly.

Day 7 - 66 km.

1420 feet ascent As we leave the country club, we have a large hill to ride up, around 2 km long and 8 percent. Over the top back into Slovenia. Another hilly day, the scenery is breath taking, there are lots of places to stop. Through the woods for a long time, riding through Hungarian villages, although very pretty, you will see the difference between the countries you have ridden in. Riding into Goricko national park, rolling hills, beautiful churches, fabulous views and so quiet! This day we stay at Grad castle. Yes, in the castle! We shall have on this last night a medieval banquet.

Day 8 - Departure day.

At this stage in your holiday you are welcome to extend your cycling tour, or if you wish, we can arrange transfers or accommodation for you to where ever you may be going.
